Senior Executives Testimonials

"As a manager working with an unfamiliar group of people I feel that the PI® was invaluable in helping me to assess the strengths of the team I now lead. More importantly it pointed out some gaps that existed and allowed me to address them far more quickly than I have be able to at any point in my career. There is no question that this has made me a more effective leader.".
Terry Madore, Director of Banking,
Microsoft Canada

"The Predictive Index® is absolutely part of the Benchmark culture. It is part of our language. Every body knows what it is and it is a critical tool of how we manage our talented and help them grow."

Predictive Index® FAQ

What is the Predictive Index®?

The Predictive Index® (PI®) is a unique, in-house management tool that has been helping executives throughout the world develop their leaders and strengthen their organizations since 1955.  Our first client in Canada was the Irving Corporation in Saint John,NB. in 1956 and they are still a client today. Based on proven behavioural science techniques, PI identifies workplace-related strengths and provides a clear picture of people at work, so managers can make decisions that work for their customers.
Available in 61 languages, the Predictive Index is used today by more than 8500 large and small organizations in almost every industry worldwide. Ongoing Statistical Studies by our newly expanded Science Teams in Boston and Toronto have produced  business centered reports for clients  across Canada and the USA that have impacted companies ranging from Tim Horton’s to Bell.  Predictive Index has become the assessment tool of choice by 28% of Canada’s top 50 best managed companies. It has also been deemed as the most validated business assessment tool in the marketplace for 2011. Selected by top Business schools like Queens School of Business and also now part of the University of Toronto Medical School, PI is trusted by leaders each day.

How is the PI® Administered?

A simple, adjective checklist, PI is easily administered almost anywhere and takes approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. Results are quickly and easily available on site. The PI Program includes a computerized support system. (Windows and web formats)

How is the Predictive Index® Interpreted?

Managers are trained to interpret the Predictive Index results in a 2 day executive workshop conducted by experienced PI Consultants. Workshop participants learn how to analyze the information provided by PI to better understand and manage their people and to more effectively lead their organizations. Certification in Predictive Index is required now by hundreds of companies in Canada in their senior managerial roles.

Did you know?

  • Many companies are discovering that their personality make-up can be a key competitive differentiator. How? Think about it – how many times have you not returned to a particular restaurant or bank branch because of a surly wait person or customer service agent? Similar stories relating to the &human-side" of business are everywhere.
  • Personality traits have a direct and substantial impact on job performance. Research indicates that between 20 – 25% of an individual employee’s effectiveness on the job is attributable to his or her personality.
  • PI found that retail sales managers with higher degrees of assertiveness achieved an average of 35% more year-over-year sales growth than did their less assertive counterparts.
  • PI also found that more effective leaders generally have more ambition, like ability and openness to new experiences than their less effective counterparts.

Service Canada Logo(Government of Canada ) "Through proper use, pre-hire assessments will greatly increase hiring effectiveness as they improve the firm's ability to make precise, objective and accurate hiring decisions about an applicant's compatibility with the competencies required for a specific position"

The below is a list of strengths of PI®, in comparison to many other assessment products currently on the market:

  • Developed specifically and exclusively for use in industrial settings, with working adults. Developed by a business-person for business-people.
  • Has been used since 1955, as opposed to many other tools that have ”sprung up” from nowhere in the past few years.
  • Very high level of scientific rigor, including over 400 validity studies that mathematically prove PI’s ability to predict job performance. We conduct these validity studies to our clients at no charge.
  • Well-grounded in psychological theory – based on the work of pioneering psychologists such as Thurstone, Cattell and Skinner. Recently selected by top universities in Canada.
  • Full EEOC compliance – no adverse impact based on age, gender or race.
  • Can be used equally effectively across jobs, organizational levels and industries – has wide applicability.
  • International in scope. Is available in over 61 languages, and international validation work has occurred in countries such as Canada, India, U. K., Portugal, Spain, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden and France.
  • Extremely strong customer loyalty – high renewal rate from year to year.
  • A true management tool that impacts how the entire company does business, as opposed to being seen as simply "an HR thing"that remains isolated in various pockets of the organization.
  • accessPI™ our new internet version has been very successful in the Fortune 200 group
  • Serves as the "core" for many uses (e.g. selection, training, executive coaching, etc.), Our new Personal Leadership Series is a new series of onsite training on top of PI
  • By training analysts, the company becomes self-sufficient in its use of PI, as opposed to being overly reliant on the PI consultant, or as opposed to many products that are used once to make a "YES/NO" decision about someone and then sit on the shelf in the HR manager’s office.
