The Predictive Index® system is a scientifically validated management system which offers a clear and concise understanding of the work related needs and drives of an individual, to determine how they would perform in a specific role. This provides a unique insight for managers into how to manage, motivate and build successful teams.

The foundations of the PI® system are based on the free choice PI survey and the Performance Requirement Option (PRO) and Validity Proven Results.

It all starts with a simple checklist

At first glance, it appears to be a simple adjective checklist. For all its apparent simplicity, however, the Predictive Index (PI) is a sophisticated instrument that's been scientifically validated to be a reliable predictor of work-related behavior. As anyone who has completed PI will tell you, the results are uncannily accurate.

The PRO. How do you know who is right for the job?

Before you match a person to a job, you have to know what the job requires. That's where the PRO (Performance Requirement Options) worksheet comes in. The PRO gives you a road map for the various positions in your organization, providing insight into the behaviors and drives necessary for superior performance.

The PRO and the Predictive Index work together. The PRO helps you understand the specific behaviors that lead to most effective performance in a particular job, given the realities of your organization's methods, markets, processes and management. It describes the drives and behaviors that are necessary for success, and also gives you insight into similarities and differences that might exist in various individuals' approaches to the same job.

You can compare an individual's PI results with the needs of the job, highlighting both fits and gaps to make better-informed selection, coaching, performance management and leadership decisions.

Validity. Proven Results

Since 1955, thousands of businesses have depended on the Predictive Index for a variety of uses, including employee selection. PI Worldwide remains dedicated to conducting research that ensures that the PI is work-related, free of bias, valid and reliable.

Clients around the world have confidence in the Predictive Index not only because of its repeatable accuracy, but also for its scientific and research-based foundation:

  • The Predictive Index was developed and validated in compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) Guidelines, as well as the professional standards established by the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Society of Industrial & Organizational Psychology (SIOP)
  • We have amassed an extensive library of over 400 criterion-related job validity studies covering multiple jobs, industries and countries which document the instrument's validity and usefulness in the business world.

Maximizing employee potential: Data-driven tool shows the way

One of the most important decisions any organization can make is hiring the right people to help run it. With so much at stake it’s a wonder many employers, including those in healthcare, still rely so heavily on the traditional job interview to determine who to bring on board. The trouble with using this one single method is that it’s an inherently unscientific and subjective approach, laden with possibilities for error. Increasingly, smart organizations are moving beyond traditional hiring methods by incorporating more reliable, data-driven tools in their recruitment practices, tools such as personality assessments. This type of tool can also be used to help maximize the contribution of existing employees. Read more

"Very good presentation and content!! Excellent delivery and Knowledge of the subject by David Osborne" -
Mathieu LeBlanc , Controller,

"As a manager working with an unfamiliar group of people I feel that the PI® was invaluable in helping me to assess the strengths of the team I now lead. More importantly it pointed out some gaps that existed and allowed me to address them far more quickly than I have be able to at any point in my career. There is no question that this has made me a more effective leader. Results speak volumes and with the ability to provide solid coaching that was geared to individual behaviors we exceeded our target in H1"
